Dark Skies Festival 2019 – Canoeing & Star Gazing with How Stean

Canoeing – Glide along Scar House Reservoir surrounded by the moon and stars during the Yorkshire Dales & Nidderdale AONB Dark Skies Festival.

Ever thought of having a go at stargazing in Yorkshire? Did you know there are 88 different constellations of stars? Scar House is 1 of 3 places in the Nidderdale AONB which is part of the Dark Skies Project and is designated as a Dark Sky Discovery Site.

Homemade Soup & Pasty from 6pm @ Dark Skies Cafe Scar House Canoeing 7pm – 8.30pm

or we have just opened up a later session start with Soup & Pasty from 8pm and Canoeing 9pm – 10.30pm

Then back to the Café for a hot drink.

7pm – 8.30pm – Canoeing & Star Gazing

Then back to the Dark Skies Cafe for a Hot Drink

Please bring along –

  • Waterproof Coat & Trousers (we do have some waterproof cags if you don’t have your own)
  • Wellies – tend to be the best footwear as you can paddle out a little way to step in and out of your Canoe whilst staying dry
  • Hat & Gloves
  • All safety equipment is supplied by How Stean Gorge
