Experience Yorkshire Hill Walks

Sunny view from the road over the Nidderdale Valley.

Whilst here on-site at How Stean Gorge, it would be a waste to not make the most of the natural, unspoilt hillsides of Nidderdale. Evening hill walks in the Yorkshire Dales are the perfect way to take in the beautiful scenery after a challenging day of activities.

What to Expect

With the guidance of an instructor, a route will be planned to meet the needs of the group taking part. A typical route involves navigating your way through a series of farmers fields, before ascending up a hill, enough to get the heart pumping – but don’t worry it’s not too long. The half way point is a quick stop at the little village of Middlesmoor, this is the perfect place to see the majority of upper Nidderdale,  great place for a photo. The rest of the route includes descending down the hillside through the church grounds and a working farm, before returning back to how stean gorge for hot chocolate and biscuits.

Personal Development

There are several personal development benefits to be gained from an evening walk – especially rewarding if you’re trying it as part of a school trip or team building activity:

  • Strengthen communication skills – Listening and being receptive to teammates’ directions is essential for finding your way!
  • Learn to trust – Relying on your friends to navigate you up and down the hillside of Nidderdale.
  • Build self-confidence – Knowing that you can push yourself to complete the evening walk after a full day of adventurous activities.
  • Become reflective – Whilst on the evening walk, you can reminisce back on the day and the memories you have created in a peaceful environment surrounded by outstanding views.
