A spectacular Limestone gorge hidden amid Nidderdale's lush green pastures, a great day out. Near to many tourist attractions, we’re virtually on the Nidderdale Way and only a stones throw from Harrogate,
Skipton, Scar House Reservoir, Pateley Bridge, Brimham Rocks, Bolton
Abbey, Fountains Abbey and many other North Yorkshire tourist attractions. It also boasts a great campsite and access to the gorge is free for all campers.
In the gorge, narrow paths and footbridges cross the steep-sided ravine which is 20 metres deep in places. Depending on the weather, water rushes over large boulders carving them into fantastic shapes. This
is a beautiful place for a day out.
How Stean Gorge offers fun for all ages. Whether it’s a relaxing stroll, a camping holiday or an adventure you are looking for, the Gorge is a perfect place for a family day out. The restaurant,
bar and café are a perfect way to end your day out, serving a variety of home cooked food.
How Stean Gorge, welcomes outdoor adventure groups to the gorge, provided they are affiliated with trained instructors and book in advance. If you are an outdoor adventure company and wish to add a new location to your programme, How Stean Gorge can offer an exciting experience of abseiling, gorge scrambling and Caving. Our campsite is also available for adventure group camping.
