How Stean Gorge can offer an exciting mix of gorge scrambling, caving, abseiling and mountain biking all in one location.
New in 2009 – The Via Ferrata – literally meaning ‘Iron Way’ is a network of iron beams, ladders, and cables set in the rocks to help adventurers climb, wade and abseil through How Stean Gorge. You will wade through gushing water, traverse on ladders and beams, abseil 60 feet off a bridge, slide through spouts and perch under waterfalls. So far participants have ranged from 7 years to 72 years. Advance booking required.
The duration of The Via Ferrata Experience is approx. 3 hrs.
Delve deeper into the countryside and hire a mountain bike. At the heart of the Yorkshire Dales we’re suited for adventure on and off road with green lanes, bridleways and old drover tracks leading to picturesque villages and remote reservoir locations. We can advise on flatter routes for beginners and challenging hill routes for the more adventurous. We can even supply a safety helmet, lock, reflective strap and cycle bag for your map and drinks!
Each event is tailor-made to suit your requirements. Accommodation and transport can also be arranged as required. Potholing and other water based experiences may also be arranged in advance.
