Preparing the 8 roots for rings & chains.

How Stean Gorge has been given permission to install 8 climbing rings and chains for the onsite climbing wall. The face of the quarried lower part of the gorge, below the bottom foot bridge. This will be run by our in house instructors to add to Via Ferrata, Gorge Walking & caving all on site. Not a theme park its the real thing.

Easter Monday is Busier than last year.

For the first time in Months we have had a day better than the corresponding day last year. Visitors were up on Monday as they broke out of their homes with cabin fever. It has been a long hard Autumn & Winter . Lets hope the green shoots coming up have a chance to develop otherwise the Poler Bear will have no fat for next winter.

Blue sky, sunshine, dry roads a brilliant day to drive out to How Stean Gorge. The road from Masham may not be open but all other roads are in good condition. The icicles in the Gorge are second to none. Don’t forget to bring your camera.

Out with the Newby, in with the newbie!

We were sad to see one of our chefs and chief baker go last week. Jayne Newby went on to pastures new after spending a few years with us. We wish her all the best in her new venture.

So now we are training up our weekend kitchen pig, Sue Thackwray, to work at the steamy end of the kitchen. She’s just got 100% in her Food Safety in Catering Level 2, so going well so far!
