What’s it all about?
Experience the adventure of exploring the underground (Horizontal caving Level 1) passages of Nidderdale. In addition to the caves of How Stean you will explore other caves within Nidderdale. You will find yourself wading through water, climbing underground water falls and sliding through mud. It’s a brave challenge for UK thrill seekers and outdoor enthusiasts!
Each group has a maximum of 8 participants accompanied by a Qualified underground leader and one experienced caver. All safety equipment is provided. Recommended for 7+ years. Advance booking required.
How safe is it?
Each session is planed with safety in mind and begins with a safety briefing by one of our approved guides. Each guide leads the way and gives instructions for each element of the experience. All activities undertaken by How Stean Gorge are safe when participants adhere to the instructions of the guides. This is to ensure the safety of team members and of other users.
What do I need to bring?
You will need comfortable clothing and footwear with a good tread – wellies are ideal. You will get very dirty as you clamber along the rocks and crawl through mud so wear items that do not matter. You will be provided with helmets, lamps, caving suits.
Please bring a towel, showers on site afterwards.
